Services
Temple Israel offers a full array of worship services. Our Shabbat and Kabbalat Shabbat Services, led by Rabbi Steven Garten, lie at the heart of Temple Israel worship, along with regular morning Minyans and holiday and festival Services. Our Siddur offers traditional Hebrew liturgy in a contemporary context.

Shabbat Shirah, February 4, 2012 Shabbat Morning Service 10:15 am
Shabbat Shirah, named for the Parsha (Torah portion) that is chanted at the service (Shirat HaYam - Song of the Sea) is a date the congregation has chosen to celebrate Jewish music. A special group of Temple Youth will be leading the service. In attendance will be university students who are members of the Jewish Students Union – Hillel Ottawa. A representative from the organization will tell us more about the organization and its programs.

Minyan will be held the first and third Thursdays of every month.

Friday Night Services
Friday night services, from 6:15 to about 7 pm, are full of music and are especially child-friendly. In addition to our regular Friday evening services, on the second Friday of every month, the service is followed by a casual “bring your own and some to share” dinner in which we welcome Shabbat in the warm company of family and friends. This is a great way to get to know people in an informal setting, and a fun way to introduce children to services.
Upcoming dinner services are on:
January 13th
February 10th
March 9th

Tot Shabbat
Tot Shabbat is a child-centered, music-based Shabbat morning service for preschoolers and their parents. We sing, dance, pray and make kiddush, all before 10:15 am.
We start at 9:30 am and finish before 10:15 am. For those who wish to attend regular Shabbat Services afterwards, babysitting will be provided in the Temple Israel kindergarten classroom. Space is limited, so if you wish to attend, please call or email Dina.
If there is greater interest than the space permits, we can look at meeting more frequently to accommodate more children.
